Snobbery

There are rumors flying that Wal Mart might carry the iPhone.  (No, I have no idea if it's true.  I only know official information.)  This post discusses the possibility, but what Travel Man pointed out to me was the comments section.

The amount of snobbery some of the commenters have towards Wal Mart and people who shop there is ridiculous.  Let me tell you something.  I've trimmed my grocery budget considerably by shopping there instead of at the local Kroger's.  I can buy clothes for my girls at a really EXCELLENT price, and I can pick up a pair of boots for winter (I usually get boy's work boots) for under $12 a pair.  Wal Mart provides jobs and inexpensive products for lots and lots of people.

There is nothing wrong with shopping there, you know.  Nothing.

Please browse my eBay items. Thank you.

Thank you so much -- for this post and other things. :)

What constantly amazes me is that some people have a hard time understanding that paying less for the same item is intelligent and paying more for the same item is dumb. Nobody proves their superiority by deliberately overpaying.

Another thing that bugs me is the constant connection people seem to make between WalMart and "cheap plastic junk" made in China. I buy my chicken there. I buy my dishwashing liquid there. I buy most of my household necessities there, because it's the lowest price grocer in town. I really can't imagine how one assumes that my chicken must be made in china because I bought it at an inexpensive store.

The last thing that irks me is more limited, but still fairly representative. I overheard a conversation about the local WalMart in which several women were griping that the store hires retarded people. I for one think it's wonderful. If they really think a self-respecting employer should not hire people with lower IQ, then they should be willing to offer them a livelihood out of their own pockets.

Who are your heros?
